SMEG USA has launched two additions to its coffee lineup: the Espresso & Cold Brew Coffee Machine, model ECF03, and the Multipurpose Coffee Grinder, model CGF03. Alongside these new products, SMEG is also introducing sleek matte black and matte white finishes to its classic breakfast essentials.

Designed with SMEG’s attention to detail, these new appliances mark an elevated expansion of SMEG’s morning portfolio, combining the brand’s signature aesthetics and Italian craftsmanship.

The Espresso & Cold Brew Coffee Machine offers barista-level performance, featuring single- and double-espresso functions and single- and double-dose cold brew. The perfect all-in-one solution for crafting both rich, hot morning espresso and refreshing, smooth cold brew, the Espresso & Cold Brew Coffee Machine joins SMEG’s 1950s Retro-Style line and is available in black, white, pastel green, cream and pastel blue.

The Cold Brew Function allows users to enjoy single or double doses of perfectly extracted smooth cold brew in under three minutes, while the Classic Espresso Preparation pulls rich, traditional single or double hot espresso shots at the touch of a button.

A 15-bar pump with a pressure manometer provides optimal pressure to extract espresso, while the built-in gauge monitors pressure. Advanced thermo-black heating ensures rapid heat-up times and precise water temperature.

The portafilter delivers even coffee extraction, while the stainless-steel steam wand creates velvety foam for lattes and cappuccinos. A passive cup warmer gently heats mugs before brewing. The My SMEG Assistant provides access to digital manuals, maintenance tips and guided setups.

The Multipurpose Coffee Grinder is built for daily use and designed as the perfect companion to any of SMEG’s coffee machines. From fine espresso beans to a coarse French press, the grinder allows users to achieve consistent results for any brewing method in a smaller, compact footprint. It features SMEG’s iconic style and is available in the same colorways as the new Espresso & Cold Brew Coffee Machine: black, white, pastel green, cream and pastel blue.

It features 15 grind settings, a control knob with programmable presents and a manual grinding mod. Removable stainless-steel conical burrs deliver a professional-grade grind while making routine cleaning and maintenance easy. An antistatic system minimizes messy residue and static cling, ensuring ground coffee lands where they should while keeping countertops pristine.

To complete the elevated breakfast experience, SMEG is also expanding its color offerings for its countertop staples. A sophisticated matte black finish is now available for its 1950s style Two-Slice Toaster, Electric Kettle, Semi-Automatic Espresso Machine and Drip Coffee Machine. A crisp matte white colorway has also been added for the Electric Kettle and Two-Slice Toaster, allowing customers to curate a personalized, modern breakfast nook.

Sub-Zero Group Inc. announced the launch of the Designer Undercounter 15-in. Ice Maker for the home. Built to Sub-Zero standards for reliability, performance and design integration, the new model delivers crystal-clear, slower-melting ice with near-silent operation.

Developed through extensive consumer insights, the Designer Undercounter 15-in. Ice Maker directly addresses the most common frustrations with traditional home ice makers — complicated cleaning, disruptive noise levels, uneven ice distribution and poor ice scoop ergonomics. The result is a machine that produces the most preferred consumer ice shape, a 1.25-in. crystal-clear, flavorless cube, while simplifying ownership.

Because cleaning complexity has historically been a major pain point for ice makers, Sub-Zero reimagined the entire maintenance experience to be intuitive, guided and low effort, helping to ensure consistent performance and long-term reliability. The guided cleaning system helps ensure every cycle is completed correctly, reducing maintenance-related service calls and supporting years of crystal-clear ice.

The maker’s near-silent operation makes it ideal for open-concept kitchens, entertaining spaces and home bars. A patented ice distribution system eliminates uneven ice levels, maximizing usable ice storage without the need for manual intervention. Together, these innovations ensure consistent ice quality, reduced maintenance and effortless ownership.

The kitchen appliance sector was well represented at EuroCucina/FTK at Fiera Rho Milano. Although the total percentage of appliance manufacturers displaying at EuroCucina that serve the US market is limited, there was much to consider for design professionals with US clientele. The noteworthy trends seen at the show included a wide spectrum of colorful finish options from matte black and matte white to blue, yellow, green and more, integrated (view-saving) downdraft ventilation systems, Wi-Fi connectivity, ‘burnerless’ induction cooking surfaces that track pot movement in real time, integrated infrared/AI sensors that take the guesswork out of cooking and food preservation and sleek, compact outdoor cooking equipment.

Miele has introduced Built-Under Refrigerator Drawers, expanding the brand’s refrigerator portfolio with a flexible cooling solution designed for today’s kitchens. The system offers two undercounter drawers with independent temperature zones within standardized niche dimensions, providing homeowners with greater control over food and beverage storage while maintaining optimal freshness.

The importance of kitchen islands and multifunctional spaces has fueled demand for undercounter appliances, including dedicated cooling in preparation and entertaining areas, allowing frequently used ingredients and beverages to remain easily accessible without relying solely on the main refrigerator.

At the same time, more people are cooking, entertaining and experimenting with new recipes at home, increasing the need for flexible storage that makes better use of available kitchen space. The Miele Built-Under Refrigerator Drawers address this shift by bringing precise, adaptable cooling directly into these high-use areas of the kitchen.

The Built-Under Refrigerator Drawers feature two independently controlled temperature zones ranging from 32 to 57 degrees Fahrenheit, offering greater flexibility than traditional single-zone undercounter units. This dual-zone capability allows homeowners to store beverages, fresh ingredients and specialty foods at their ideal temperatures while maintaining uniform cooling throughout each compartment.

The drawers utilize the brand’s proprietary DynaCool technology, which circulates air evenly for consistent temperatures, helping support ingredient quality over time and ensuring foods remain at their ideal storage conditions. The appliance can also be networked with the Miele@home app, allowing users to monitor and adjust settings remotely through the brand’s connected home platform.

Designed to accommodate a variety of household needs, the drawers support a wide range of everyday storage applications — from an easy-to-reach snack drawer for kids to precise temperature-controlled ingredient storage for home chefs. The system’s flexible temperature settings and Wi-Fi capability make it simple to adjust each drawer depending on what the household needs most at any given moment.

The Built-Under Refrigerator Drawers’ panel-ready design fits flush with surrounding cabinetry, maintaining a cohesive kitchen aesthetic. Designed for standard undercounter niche dimensions, the unit can be installed in kitchen islands or alongside other built-in appliances, allowing it to integrate naturally into a wide range of kitchen layouts.

Available in June 2026, the Gaggenau Vario cooling Expressive series is designed as a modular system for contemporary kitchen architecture and reflects the brand’s vision of cooling as an essential element of purposeful kitchen and interior design.

With 11 new refrigeration models, including modular refrigerators, freezers, fridge-freezer combinations and wine climate cabinets, the series unites expressive aesthetics with technical mastery, transforming the act of cooling into a sensory experience. Featuring proportions and detailing that recall fine furniture, the appliances are conceived as architectural elements within the space. Selected models include integrated cameras, and every appliance offers compatibility with Gaggenau Home Connect, enabling remote access and visibility. Interfaces are clear and intuitive, with animated quick guides to support maintenance and everyday use.

Gaggenau Vario Cooling Expressive Series Wine Climate Cabinets

As part of The Vario cooling Expressive series, the wine climate cabinets are  Gaggenau’s most advanced cooling innovation to date. This development redefines wine serving and storage for the home with automatic wine tempering that brings each bottle to its ideal serving temperature without any guesswork or manual intervention. The cabinet’s proprietary infrared sensors, calibrated by bottle quantity and wine type, handle red, white, rosé and sparkling varieties with equal precision. The cabinet notifies the homeowner via the signature lighting or the Home Connect app the moment the wine is ready to pour. Available in 68- or 110-bottle configurations and finished in dark brushed stainless steel with solid oak elements, it stores and presents a collection with the quiet authority of a private cellar and can be combined with other Vario cooling appliances to create a fully modular, furniture-grade cooling ensemble.

Zephyr has launched the HyperCore Induction Cooktop powered by Impulse. Designed for both professional chefs and passionate home cooks, the HyperCore Induction Cooktop is four times more powerful than traditional gas and three times more powerful than standard induction.

A built-in battery supports peak performance while remaining compatible with a standard 120V or 240V outlet, reflecting a forward-looking approach to cleaner, more efficient energy use in the modern kitchen.

The HyperCore Induction Cooktop is driven by four ultra-high-output 10 kW heating elements, each delivering the power of a 72,000 BTU gas burner. A built-in battery supports peak performance, while magnetic knobs detach easily and allow for effortless cleaning. A sleek, low-profile design in a Charcoal finish integrates seamlessly into the kitchen and fits approximately 90% of existing cooktop openings.

HyperCore is engineered to respond instantly, offering both high-intensity power and refined temperature control. Proprietary sensor technology measures the temperature inside the pan rather than just the bottom surface, adjusting in real time to maintain accuracy. Power Boost technology brings water to a boil in under 40 seconds, while HyperCore delivers consistent performance across a wide range of cooking techniques.

Dual Cooking Modes let users cook in Power Mode (watts) with traditional low, medium and high settings, or switch to Temperature Mode (Fahrenheit) for single-degree precision. ExactTemp enables accurate temperature settings every time, ideal for delicate tasks like tempering chocolate, maintaining oil temperature or cooking eggs to perfection. LED element rings signal active heat, while a 12.8-in. display provides a clear, intuitive interface.

The cooktop can receive new features and continually improve through over-the-air updates, and HyperCore connects to Wi-Fi right out of the box.

The HyperCore Induction Cooktop powered by Impulse, represents a partnership with Impulse Labs, a San Francisco–based technology company focused on advancing high-performance, battery-powered home appliances. The partnership integrates Impulse’s proprietary battery and energy-management technology, supporting a shared vision with Zephyr to enable a cleaner, more energy-abundant future without compromising speed or design.

Appliance authority AJ Madison anticipates that AI-powered home appliances are becoming the industry standard for modern consumers. Artificial intelligence is no longer a futuristic novelty, as it is incorporated inside ovens, refrigerators, dishwashers and washing machines. At their best, smart appliances go beyond basic automation. AI-driven technology is transforming everyday machines into intuitive helpers that can adjust temperature with sub-degree accuracy, learn household habits and preferences; optimize energy, water, and detergent usage; and provide remote monitoring and diagnostics.

“When smart appliances work well, they fade into the background,” said AJ Madison vice president of marketing and appliance expert, Amy Chernoff. “The best AI-driven products don’t ask homeowners to think more, but instead, quietly remove friction from everyday routines. AI is most powerful when it solves real problems. Precise temperature control, automatic dosing and adaptive cycles aren’t just flashy features, but helpful hands in daily routines.”

Matching AI Home Appliances to Consumer Behavior

Rather than novelty, the true value of smart appliances lies in how well they support individual lifestyles. These appliances are not gadgets. They are tools designed to support how consumers cook, entertain, travel and live. Chernoff provides some concrete examples among the brands represented:

For passionate bakers: Wolf M Series Smart Wall Oven — Gourmet mode selects ideal temperature, rack placement and cooking method for pastries and multi-rack bakes.
For effortless cleanup: Miele G7000 with AutoDosTM + PowerDisk — Automatically doses detergent and adjusts cycles for spotless dishes with minimal effort.
For longer-lasting freshness: Sub-Zero Smart Built-In Refrigerator — Smart humidity and airflow controls extend produce life and streamline organization.
For precision cooking: Gaggenau 400 Series Combi-Steam / Induction — Exact humidity and temperature control deliver restaurant-quality results at home.
For fabric care: Miele Smart Laundry with AI + TwinDos® — Fabric-specific cycles and auto-dosing protect clothing and extend garment life.
For entertainers: Café Smart Ice-Capable Refrigerator and Smart Dishwasher — Schedule ice production, prevent mid-party failures and simplify cleanup.
For busy or traveling homeowners: Bosch Home Connect® Suite — Full remote control allows users to manage appliances from anywhere.

“We see the highest satisfaction when people choose appliances based on how they live, not just what’s trending,” says Chernoff. “A serious baker and a frequent traveler need very different kinds of intelligence in their kitchens.”

However, there are trade-offs as smart technology is not always smart enough. There is the other side of luxury, as despite the benefits, smart appliances come with real considerations such as higher upfront costs, dependence on ongoing software updates and brand support, data privacy concerns, and added complexity for users, as well as limited cross-brand compatibility along with specialized service requirements and long-term maintenance risks. Smart is only as good as the ecosystem supporting it. Without reliable updates or seamless integration, convenience can quickly erode.

“Connectivity alone doesn’t equal value,” Chernoff cautions. “If an appliance depends on outdated software or doesn’t integrate well with the rest of the home, the experience can quickly become frustrating.”

Authenticity Versus AI

la cornue range

La Cornue range. Photo courtesy of AJ Madison

Some consumers don’t view automation as an upgrade. Brands such as La Cornue, known for hand-built French ovens, represent a different philosophy rooted in craftsmanship rather than connectivity. They offer no apps, no automation and no cloud updates. What they provide is excellent precision engineering, tactile controls and cooking guided by human intuition. For many homeowners, this tactile experience, longevity and artistry define what “better” truly means. There are two definitions of modern luxury: smart technology for those who prioritize time-saving convenience in a unified digital home, and traditional luxury, for those who value craftsmanship, control and appliances meant to last a generation.

“Today’s luxury consumer is split,” says Chernoff. “Some want seamless automation and remote control, while others want tactile knobs, craftsmanship and appliances that will last decades. Neither approach is wrong. Luxury is about alignment. It’s when an appliance reflects how you cook, clean, and live.”

For selecting smart appliances that add value, homeowners are encouraged to consider which tasks they want to simplify or automate; whether they prefer a single-brand ecosystem or a best-of-breed approach; the importance of long-term software support; the compatibility with existing smart-home platforms (Alexa, Google, Apple) and which features offer real value versus novelty. Smart appliances should reduce friction, not create it. Smarter can be better when it is purposeful.

In 2026, AI home appliances can transform how people cook, clean and live, but intelligence alone doesn’t guarantee improvement. Better living is defined by convenience, quality, durability and how well a home reflects its owner’s lifestyle. A perfect roast, spotless dishes, pristine laundry or a seamless kitchen experience are the outcomes that matter most. Whether they come from automation or human touch, it is a personal choice.

“The future of AI-enabled appliances is the intersection of convenience and concern. Use cases are wide reaching and aspirational, but consumer adoption is still low,” Chernoff tells KBB. “There are many concerns around privacy and ‘digital load’ on home WiFi networks that require additional shifts in behavior including investment in broadband, interconnectivity between other household appliances and systems which will be required to truly change consumer adoption. No homeowner is going to say no to the idea of AI-driven maintenance alerts before potential costly failures occur. For this to work, it does require connecting the appliance to WiFi to receive such alerts and most consumers who buy smart appliances today don’t connect them. We’ll have to climb that mountain before smart appliances can learn to anticipate the needs of the owner.”

“Smart can absolutely be better,” Chernoff concludes. “But only when it’s intentional. The most successful kitchens aren’t the most connected, but rather, the most considered.”

Midea America unveiled its most expansive home appliance lineup to date at the 2026 Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) last month, including refrigerators, cooking appliances, dishwashers and small appliances.

Midea introduced its most extensive French Door lineup, spanning 30-, 33- and 36-in. configurations across standard and counter-depth formats. The lineup includes both dispensing and non-dispensing models, plus OneTouch AutoFill with MaxSpace technology designed to optimize convenience, capacity and flexible organization across every kitchen. Midea also offers a broad portfolio of garage-ready upright and chest freezers, as well as space-saving compact refrigerators, delivering solutions for virtually every food preservation need.

The cooking lineup continues to scale with new four- and five-burner freestanding gas and electric ranges and the upcoming launch of a slide-in range platform. Midea will also introduce its over-the-range microwave featuring Soft Close Technology, designed to close smoothly and gently, eliminating door slams and bringing a quieter feel to the kitchen.

Midea is proud to introduce a game-changing dishwasher with STRAWash and Sensor TruDry technology. This dishwasher is thoughtfully designed to thoroughly clean a reusable bottle, with dedicated jets to clean inside reusable straws and tall tumblers, as well as a dedicated zone for lids. It also features a cycle that gets your dishes fully clean and dry in just one hour.

To complement its large-scale innovations, Midea offers a suite of small appliances encompassing everything from air fryers to espresso machines. Each is engineered to handle the demands of family cooking and everyday use while reducing countertop clutter.
