Beginning in 2027, ICFF (International Contemporary Furniture Fair), North America’s leading platform for contemporary design, will take place annually in November. The 2027 edition will take place November 7– 9 at the Javits Center. This milestone signals a more powerful and expansive future for the global design industry, creating a new design destination in New York each fall.

“After 37 years defining contemporary design in the U.S., we are making a move that reflects where the industry is going,” said ICFF Brand Directors Odile Hainaut and Claire Pijoulat. “Exhibitors and partners told us clearly and consistently that the spring international fair calendar had become too compressed, so it was time to take meaningful action. This was not a change for the sake of change, but a thoughtful decision shaped by years of listening, discussion, and considering what would best serve the industry.”

The trade show landscape has evolved significantly in recent years, with tighter budgets, fewer travel opportunities, and increasing demands on brands and buyers alike. At the same time, the importance of in-person connection has never been clearer. Long recognized as a cornerstone of New York’s design calendar, ICFF’s move to November creates a more efficient and productive business environment while aligning more strategically with the global design calendar. The shift also expands opportunities for growth, participation, and international visibility among exhibitors and partners, creating a stronger stage for design in New York each fall.

ICFF and BDNY Deliver Complementary Experiences

Strategically timed with BDNY (Boutique Design New York), ICFF’s new dates will mark a new era for New York’s design industry. ICFF and BDNY will remain two distinct, independently curated trade fairs, each with its own identity, audience, and programming.

Taking place concurrently at the Javits Center, they will deliver complementary experiences that together create a broader, more dynamic platform for the high-end residential, hospitality, and commercial design industries. It reflects the growing convergence across sectors and the way designers, brands, and buyers engage today.

For ICFF, the November schedule expands access to key decision-makers across hospitality and commercial design while easing the constraints of the crowded spring calendar. For BDNY, this change introduces a complementary layer of high-end contemporary design, spanning global brands, emerging talent, and a broad range of furnishings, lighting, and materials.

Together, the two fairs will deliver greater value for exhibitors, attendees, and partners through shared timing and proximity, while maintaining each brand’s integrity and distinct positioning. In 2025, ICFF welcomed more than 13,000 attendees and BDNY drew over 16,000, with just a 10% overlap between their audiences, highlighting a significant opportunity to engage a broader cross-section of the design industry. With ICFF also comprising approximately 50% international exhibitors, the alignment is expected to expand reach, increase visibility, and strengthen return on investment across both platforms.

As ICFF enters its next phase, it builds on a long-standing tradition of bringing together the global design community through innovation, creativity, and exchange, now with greater scale, relevance, and opportunity than ever before.

To sustain momentum ahead of its November 2027 edition, ICFF will maintain a year-round presence through a series of key activations:
• Preview event at BDNY, November 6, 2026
• ICFF Lounge at BDNY with networking and programming, November 8-9, 2026
• Annual press preview, February 2027
• ICFF Night Out at NYCxDESIGN, May 2027

Together, these milestones will generate excitement ahead of the debut November 2027 edition of ICFF.

CEDIA Expo/Commercial Integrator Expo (CIX), the industry’s leading event for custom residential and commercial audiovisual system integration, announced a new multi-year rotation bringing the show to Las Vegas, Orlando and Dallas during the next four years as part of a location strategy designed to expand accessibility, increase geographic reach and deliver greater value to its audience.

Informed by extensive attendee and exhibitor feedback, the new rotation mode reflects a clear demand for both consistency and variety, pairing the strength of established destinations with the opportunity to attract and engage new audiences.

CEDIA Expo/CIX has experienced strong industry support during its time in Denver, establishing the city as a successful and well-received location. Building on that momentum, the new strategy introduces a new multi-city rotation designed to further strengthen the event’s role as a central gathering point for the custom residential and commercial integration industry.

“Denver has been an important chapter in the growth of CEDIA Expo/CIX, and we’ve seen strong engagement from both attendees and exhibitors over the past several years,” said Jason McGraw, group vice president and show director. “At the same time, our audience has been clear — they value variety, accessibility and the opportunity to experience the show in different regions. This rotation model allows us to deliver on that while continuing to scale the event and serve the industry more effectively.”

Future Show Locations

Beginning in 2027, CEDIA Expo/CIX will rotate across major U.S. convention destinations:

  • 2027 — Las Vegas | Las Vegas Convention Center | Sept. 8–10
  • 2028 — Orlando, Fla. | Orange County Convention Center | Sept. 26–28
  • 2029 — Las Vegas | Las Vegas Convention Center | Sept. 5–7
  • 2030 — Dallas | Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center | Sept. 18–20

These cities were selected based on customer feedback as well as their ability to support large-scale industry events, offering strong infrastructure, accessibility and a range of accommodations and amenities for attendees and exhibitors.

What Changes. What Doesn’t.

The rotation brings the show to new markets. Everything else that defines CEDIA Expo/CIX as the industry’s premier gathering remains unchanged — world-class education, the brands that power the business, and the connections that move careers and companies forward.

That means every stop on the rotation delivers:

• Easier travel for attendees across every region of the country
• New markets, new audiences, new energy at every stop
• The education programming the industry depends on to stay ahead
• The exhibitors and brands that define what’s next in residential and commercial integration
• Best-in-class venues built for events of this scale

CEDIA Expo/CIX will return to Denver from Tuesday, Sept. 1, to Friday, Sept. 4, 2026.

NKBA hosted a variety of panels during High Point Market’s Spring Market in April. “Designing Light: Layering, Materials and the Architecture of Illumination” featured leading interior designers alongside experts from Kichler and Lutron as they explored lighting as a foundational element of great design. Panelists included Jerel Lake of Lake Haus Design; Kim Scodro of Kim Score Interiors; Kristina Christopher, CMO, Kichler Lighting; and Becca Ryan, senior sales manager for Lutron. The session was moderated by Kaitlin Peterson of Business of Home.

Designing Light Panel

Any designer who has ever tried to retrofit lighting to an existing space knows that great lighting is a foundational design element—not an afterthought. Lighting has a critical impact on how people experience spaces, and this panel focused on how designers can use lighting to elevate their projects.

When should we talk about lighting with clients? Immediately, agreed the panel, while noting that education is key—as clients are often surprised by the cost of quality lighting and may at first be resistant to investing in a lighting specialist. “It will cost more money, but it will save money in the end,” said Kim Scodoro, “because you’ll avoid costly mistakes.”

Technology is a more recent consideration for those early client conversations. “Smart lighting has gone from being a gimmick to something people want—it’s expected,” noted Kristina Christopher.

Becca Ryan advises clients to consider how they want to experience their home throughout the entire day: “How do they want a space to feel at 7am versus noon versus after hours?”

Aside from ambient lighting, task lighting and decorative spotlighting, lighting strategy can surprise and delight clients by anticipating their needs—through details such as lighting over kitchen countertops as well as inside closets and bars.

Color should always be planned in tandem with lighting, as clients can fall in love with a paint color without realizing the effect of light. On that note, layering light is key. “Always layer, always dim,” emphasized Kristina. “Never have just one source of light.”

And again, bring in your specialist. “The most important thing I’ve learned is to stay in your lane, “emphasized Kim. “You don’t know everything. Don’t try to wear too many hats.”

At the Luxury Lounge during KBIS 2026, journalist and author Sophie Donelson had a chat with Mandy Cheng, an interior designer from Los Angeles. They touched on several topics, central to which are interior design, Cheng’s career journey and personal experiences and a glimpse into her home renovation projects.

Cheng embodies design that balances elegant aesthetics with day-to-day practicality. She shared how a well-curated environment can help individuals focus and thrive, demonstrating that beauty and function work best together.

Professional Journey

Cheng’s path from production design in film to interiors has strongly influenced her approach. Her film background honed her resourcefulness, spatial storytelling and fast decision-making – skills that now help her create homes tailored to routines and personal needs. Her transition highlights how creative skills can cross industries and inspire new perspectives.

Design for Real Life

The designer’s personal experience renovating her home gave her firsthand insight into the real-life challenges clients face. Managing a limited budget meant making difficult choices – opting for creative solutions over luxury splurges when necessary. This process deepened her empathy for clients and reinforced her belief that restraint, not excess, often leads to the most satisfying designs.

Cheng’s acknowledges that being in Los Angeles provides access to unique opportunities and exposure but credits her growth to a realistic design process and clarity of vision. Despite her success, she shares a grounded perspective on budgeting, acknowledging the financial surprises that come with personal projects compared to client work.

Personal Philosophy

Through her career and projects, Cheng offers valuable lessons: Prioritize spaces that work for real life, use every professional experience as a steppingstone, embrace creative constraints and recognize that acclaim comes from steady, intentional work. Her story reminds designers and creatives that strong results stem from adaptability, authenticity and a deep understanding of both the practical and aspirational sides of home.

The Smart Stage at CEDIA Expo/Commercial Integrator Expo (CIX) is where the residential and commercial sides of the integration industry converge, driving better ideas, stronger partnerships and a clearer understanding of where the market is heading.

The stage is designed as a forum for the industry to examine key shifts, bringing together integrators, manufacturers, designers, architects and business leaders to dig into the shifts shaping the market right now and what they mean for growth, profitability and competitive advantage.

From Wednesday, Sept. 2 to Friday, Sept. 4, Smart Stage programming will offer attendees perspectives on the technologies redefining projects, the business challenges reshaping operations, the workforce initiatives influencing long-term growth and the trend discussions spotlighting excellence across the channel. The entire lineup of Smart Stage programming can be found here

In addition to educational programming and industry discussions, the Smart Stage will also host key industry awards and recognition events throughout the week, including the BEST Product Awards, Integration Awards, the Home of the Year Awards, the Women to Watch 2026 celebration, the Best Booth Awards and Trendspotting, where industry experts share key takeaways and technologies generating the most momentum across the show floor.

Smart Stage sessions focus on future-forward opportunities shaping the integration industry. Covering immersive home cinema, energy management, lighting and shading, light commercial solutions, and productivity-driving AI tools, the program is aligned with where the market is going and where integrators are achieving measurable growth.

Artificial intelligence will be a major focus, with sessions exploring how AI is entering the rack, powering intelligent security systems and helping integration businesses operate more efficiently through tools that automate workflows and save time. Security and connected systems will also be examined, including how AI-driven monitoring, edge processing and smarter surveillance technologies are expanding opportunities for integrators.

Energy management will be another key topic, addressing how power reliability, energy usage and system performance are becoming increasingly connected and why energy is emerging as one of the most important considerations in smart home system design. Sessions focused on video and entertainment will explore the continued rise of ultra-large residential displays, video walls and immersive home cinema experiences that combine high-performance audio and visual design.

Design and aesthetics will be recurring themes throughout the Smart Stage program, with sessions examining architectural and design-friendly audio solutions, collaboration with architects and designers, and strategies for getting involved earlier in projects through the design-build process. Business growth and diversification will also be covered, including how lighting and shading can serve as entry points for larger projects, how integrators can expand into light commercial opportunities and how companies are adapting their business models as technology and customer expectations evolve.

“The Smart Stage is central to the CEDIA Expo/CIX experience,” said Jason McGraw, group vice president and show director for CEDIA Expo/CIX. “It’s where the important conversations happen, where industry leaders share the insights professionals need to make smarter decisions to stay competitive in a rapidly evolving market.”

CEDIA Expo/CIX will return to Denver from Sept. 1 to 4, 2026. In 2026. The show dates will shift one day earlier than in previous years, ending on Friday ahead of the Labor Day weekend.

Design journalist Julie Lasky, The New York Times, will lead a discussion with Jonathan Bowles, Center for an Urban Future, and Faith Rose, O’Neill Rose Architects, examining the impact of design on New York City’s economy.

The program concludes with the launch of Todd Bracher’s new monograph Observations, Research, and Design, published by Phaidon. Canada’s kitchen and bath sector is gaining a dedicated national stage. Kitchen + Bath Canada (KBC Expo) makes its debut November 11–12, 2026, at the Toronto Congress Centre, establishing a high-impact hub for home design professionals – interior designers, showroom specialists, builders, architects, remodelers and manufacturers.

Powered by Emerald, the team behind KBIS (Kitchen & Bath Industry Show), and sponsored by the NKBA (National Kitchen & Bath Association), KBC Expo fills a critical gap in the market, offering a robust platform tailored specifically to the unique regulatory and design landscape of the Canadian industry.

“We recognize the industry is navigating a complex landscape, but we are incredibly energized by the early response to KBC Expo,” said Brian Pagel, Executive Vice President at Emerald. “The momentum we’re seeing shows that the Canadian market is primed and ready for a platform of this scale. We aren’t just building a resource; we’re launching a vibrant destination where the industry’s best can connect, innovate, and find the high-impact solutions they need to remain resilient and competitive in a changing market.”

Kitchen + Bath Canada Expo Highlights & Programming

The two-day event is structured to balance product discovery with professional development:
● Curated Exhibits: A showcase of next-generation technology, sustainable materials, and elevated design elements from leading brands.
● Thought-Leadership: A high-impact program of panel discussions and presentations featuring leading voices in design and construction. The schedule includes exclusive market insights from the NKBA, as well as specialized sessions involving NKBA Chapters from across Canada.
● Industry Networking: A forum designed to spark new collaborations and forge the partnerships that drive the Canadian market forward. It’s an ideal setting to connect with peers and discover new business opportunities.

“Kitchen and bath spending represents the largest share of Canada’s $61 billion home renovation market,” said Bill Darcy, Global President & CEO of NKBA I KBIS. “As one of the most active and influential segments within residential design and construction, it continues to shape how Canadians live and invest in their homes. Canada’s market is distinct, and it deserves its own voice. We’re excited to support the launch of KBC Expo as a dedicated event that offers Canadian design professionals the specialized resources and community needed to thrive at home.”

Registration for Kitchen + Bath Canada (KBC Expo) 2026 opens in June 2026. Industry professionals are encouraged to sign up at https://kbcexpo.com/attendee-inquiries/ to be notified when registration is live. In addition, all NKBA members will receive complimentary Early Bird registration for the show.

The National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA | KBIS), the world’s leading trade association for the kitchen and bath industry, together with Cosentino Group, announced a dynamic lineup of panels, brunches, lunches and events taking place at Broad Hall during High Point Spring Market.

This April, the NKBA introduces “The Spring Edit at High Point Market,” an immersive showroom featuring the next evolution in kitchen and bath design. Building on the successful debut of the NKBA Design Hub last fall, the programming will bring leading designers, editors and brands together to explore the ideas, materials and technologies shaping the future of the home.

“Kitchen and bath have become central to how designers think about the style and functionality of the entire home, ” said Bill Darcy, global president and CEO of NKBA | KBIS. “High Point Market offers an incredible opportunity to bring the design community together around these conversations, and we’re thrilled to continue the momentum sparked by our fall debut.”

To refresh the space for Spring Market, the NKBA Design Hub terrace will be transformed into a garden-party-inspired setting, where elevated food and beverage offerings will accompany a series of panel discussions, creating a welcoming destination to learn from industry leaders while connecting with peers and brand partners. Indoors, curated vignettes and in-booth displays throughout the space will bring new introductions and styles to life, offering an immersive experience for attendees.

“Broad Hall has quickly become a must-visit destination for designers looking for inspiration and ideas on how to expand and elevate their business through kitchen and bath design,” said Patty Dominguez, vice president of business development for Cosentino Americas. “We’re proud to partner with NKBA to create a space where designers can engage directly with brands and explore what’s next for the home.”

The Spring Market showing builds on the inspiring kitchen and bath vignettes introduced in the fall, featuring 15 brand partners: Cosentino, Kichler, James Martin Vanities, Ferguson Home, Sherwin-Williams, Fabuwood, BlueStar, Signature Hardware, Miele, Urban Bonfire, Lutron, FreePower, Blanco, Feeney and Azenco.
